Lesbian Filmmaker Louise Wadley

“Many are the roads that do not lead to the heart”

Dear Lord, someone get me a matadoress! Is that a word? Doesn’t really matter does it?  Watch All About E  now available from Wolfe Video. Check out E, played by gorgeous lesbian actress Mandahla Rose, in matador outfit with her lips all over this beautiful blonde in a bathroom stall. Yes, you have my attention. Shown at Outfest in San Francisco in the summer of 2015, it was an overwhelming success. Did we fall in love with Mandahla Rose? Yes we did.

Part drama, part comedy, All About E is just the kind of film to definitely make your holiday season very merry.

All-About-EI contacted Louise Wadley, the director of the film. Wadley has been writing, directing and producing films for nearly twenty years. All About E is her first full-length film. Wadley was anxious to share her thoughts with Epochalips.

JC: Over the past five years, Australia has produced outstanding lesbian themed films, web series, and many lesbian inclusive television series. It just keeps getting better and better. Now, with your well-deserved inclusion in After Ellen’s top 50 directors, you are officially a mover and shaker in lesbian filmmaking. What drew you to “E”?

LW: I love the flaws in E. I love her complexity; that she seems to be in control in one world, the world where she is a super successful DJ but is not actually in control of other aspects of her life. I love the fact that she doesn’t really know what she wants or who she is, and that she is both brave and fearful. I love that she has a complex and conflicted relationship with her family as I think many lesbians do, maybe even more so because of her fear of disappointing her immigrant parents and losing family if she is simply herself.

JC: What is next from you?

LW:I have several projects in development. One is a web series which is a basically a sit-com based in a queer shared house. Then there is a super huge feature film that is a period drama. I also have what I call a walking-talking feature based in New York – lesbian Nicole Holofcener style. The other is a TV series loosely based on my grandmother who was a travelling saleswoman and piano player for the silent movies in the Outback in Australia – she’s called Constance and she’s amazing!

I for one am looking forward to more from Wadley. If All About E is a sample of her work, the films to come will be just as much a WOW! My advice? Curl up with your lover, your best friend or your cat or dog and enjoy the sexy, funny, touching madcap romp that is All About E.
